The dielectric constants of several soil samples were measured at frequencies of 5 and 19 GHz using the infinite transmission line method. The results of these measurements are presented and discussed with respect to soil types and texture structures. A comparison is made with other measurements at 1.4 GHz. Two 125-mm-bore solid ball bearings and two similar drilled ball bearings were operated at speeds up to 24,000 rpm (3.0 million DN) with a 13,000 newton (3000 lb) thrust load. The oil flow rate was varied from 0.045 to 0.121 kilograms per second (6 to 16 lb/min). The solid ball bearings operated satisfactorily over the entire range of conditions. |Scramjet nozzle design and analysis as applied to a highly integrated hypersonic research airplane - Small, W. J.|
Engine-nozzle airframe integration at hypersonic speeds was conducted by using a high-speed research aircraft concept as a focus. Recently developed techniques for analysis of scramjet-nozzle exhaust flows provide a realistic analysis of complex forces resulting from the engine-nozzle airframe coupling. By properly integrating the engine-nozzle propulsive system with the airframe, efficient, controlled and stable flight results over a wide speed range.
